Bar school district attorneys from attending IEP meetings

School district attorneys should be barred from attending IEP meetings if parents do not have an attorney.

Under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act, the law is not specific on the presence of school district attorneys attending IEP meetings if the parents do not have an attorney present. We ask that the law be amended to specifically bar school district attorneys from attending IEP meetings FOR ANY REASON if the parents do not have an attorney present to represent the best interests of their child.
