H1b visas are decimating our tech industry. I work extensively with these people, and no, they are not the best and brightest. They are the leftovers that India sends to us. The amount of rework is staggering. I see many of my fellow tech workers jobs being outsourced and offshored by these policies. More importantly, what jobs will our children have if you keep doing this. Real unemployment is over 12% when you consider underemployment. Not only should you not increase h-1b visas, you should eliminate them, and charge a 20% tariff on foreign tech companies sending workers here. I have sent this same communication to my elected ?representatives? (Dodd, Lieberman, Murphy) many times. This falls on deaf ears. They are so out of touch with us it is pathetic.

H1B is a scam. Born in USA, paid US school fees, my mortgage is in US dollars same as my car payments competing with foreigner that have their school paid, live in a one bedroom apartment with 5 other H1B. Convert their money to their home currency and are willing to work 7 days a week 12 hour days. Their work is not better than ours, our competitiveness is decreasing for a reason. When the H1B get together, they will make sure that the "Americans" get fired so they can have their friends joined them by lying on their resume, experience and school education. Also, most of them, have no plan to integrate or invest in the society, they want to go back home and have their own consulting company using the H1B program. As an American, try to get a job in India or China ... impossible, they don't want foreigners taking jobs from local.

In my company h1b visa holders are not the best and brightest. They are hired for ordinary junior level engineering positions. We then spend years mentoring them in our systems . They are replacing an entire generation of junior engineers. The company benefits by paying lower wages and having an immobile workforce. This program needs either more oversight or be abolished. This policy hurts American workers both young and old.

The H-1B visa is so abused and been used to put millions of tax paying citizens out of work. It's not only time for it to be abolished, it's time for a class action law suit against those corporations that used it to displace tax paying American Citizens with foreign guest workers to enrich the corporate coffers. $IBM $MSFT $GOOG have made lots of money using the #H1B visa to displace hardworking American employees

I have met many H1 visa holders, they come into the country and complaint about how we take SSA taxes, well then why would you come to our country? most of the H1 holders spouses are on H4 visa, which means they cannot work in the USA, they are here on H1, they try to see how they can get their spouses into H1 category to they can work.

There never has been a real shortage of STEM workers. However, employer interests long ago determined that it was far cheaper to falsely claim a "looming shortage" than to improve wages and working conditions. I have written on this topic extensively. Please use both phrases "H-1B" and "Gene Nelson" to locate some of my articles and commentary. There were about 3,000 results as of April 14, 2014. The series of articles in The Social Contract are heavily footnoted. Political corruption by such firms as Microsoft also has played a role. Search by title for the PDF version of the article "The Greedy Gates Immigration Gambit."

Graduates with STEM skills like me have ended up with unemployment including massive student loan debts. H1B is ruining the future of our generation and the American dream. I can point to lot of corporation in U.S that only hire H1B's while eliminating American citizens. This is pure discrimination.

Rich foreign immigrants are displacing american born workers. They are purchasing U.S.homes to get easy citizenship via H1B.
