in addition to forcing patients with chronic pain back in the closet, there are financial issues called "collateral damage" by congressman by denying patients their rights to pain relievers. the DEA is pressuring the health insurance companies from covering any neurologist who prescribes pain meds to their patients. So this means that patients will have no access to health insurance. If there doctor has no access to health insurance, neither does the patient.

So this means that patients will have no access to health insurance. If there doctor has no access to health insurance, neither does the patient. A forum of neurologists gathered in boston a few months with the purpose of trying to force neurologists from prescribing pain meds, but instead told them to give their patients aspirin, aleve, motrin, etc...these drugs only work if the patient has inflammation which is causing the pain, otherwise, the have no effect whatsoever on pain.

I have been in chronic pain for 28 years. Without no problems, I have become a victim of the voluntary guidelines for chronic pain medication. With over 57 medications I have tried, my Neurologist and I found a formula that worked. Now 9 years later I was forced to be in more pain because I agreed to temporarily try a medication that did not and has not worked as well. Why am I being forced to be in more pain after I had found something that worked for so long?

I too have suffered from chronic pain for well over twenty years now. My doctor who has recently retired has left me with no viable alternatives. I have been told by the nurse practioner who, I imagine, has replaced him that doctors will no longer be writing prescriptions for opiate pain relievers. So, I guess I'll just go on living in pain until I can't anymore. Thank you, DEA, for getting between me and my doctor and health care and constitutional right to life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.

After being on medication for pain because he is Inoperable, they are now going to try and put him on suboxone, Suboxone where you have to withdraw from medications being on them for 40 years, He will die!!! How can The Doctor's think this is okay? and who can I call to report neglect?? This is not okay, and the DEA is making people out to be druggies Why r people going to Heroin, why is there an epidemic, ask DEA, ask these Dr's that will not stick up for their patients. Me again... I got desperate today.I went out and found 20mg oxycodone.Took a chance on going to prison. It helped for about 2.5 hours.Cost me $20.My regular prescription is 20mg 3 times a day and only costs $1.97 with my insurance.I live on SSDI so needless to say - I couldn't afford the money I spent today.Had I been caught my world as I know it would have ended. They may as well have kept me in prison.Besides that my mother, who is 74,would have then been truly alone.I can't take that chance again.So... pain is my future I suppose. It would be nice if someone could help. But I just don't see that happening.

I had a pain clinic that was legal but the hospital CEO decided to have all the doctors no longer provide pain medication and just do injections. Which I received both medications and injection which only cut pain in half. I am 50 yrs old but have severe osteoporosis, was told have bones of 70 yr old. I have bi lateral spinal stenosis, arthritis in the spine, had same thing in neck and had surgery that failed. Went to family doctor not asking for pain medication cause there is a sign in lobby says they will not give, but went to get sleeping pills because without pain medication I go for days with out sleeping. Which makes it dangerous to drive. I explained to nurse why I was there and she sharply and very loudly said he not gonna lose his license over that. Also, I was diagnose with 3 blood clots in leg week before visit and let me say it's very painful not to have blood flowing correctly in leg. Doctor gave me lose dose of sleeping pills and now I see on medical charts something new saying I have Anxiety, does not mention my spine or neck issues.

Howell, NJ - I am so sorry for what is hapoening to your Dad, I too live in Howell, NJ and am being FORCED to suffer!!! After being on the same stable dose for eight yers and had some semblance of a QUALITY OF LIFE , my doctor tells me last week he is lowering my meds even more and taking me off. I immediately became very upset, I was in so much pain from waiting over an hour, he comes in and drops the bomb. When I asked why and what am I suppose to do just suffer!?!? He very nastily said to me, "you can't be on them for the rest of your life" I said well what do u suggest when ive been thru hell in ten years, years of PT, massage, chiro, accupuncture, OTC AND NSAIDS that tore my stomach and liver up, many many epidurals that did more damage and gave me AA, two failed spinal fusions that left me with severe nerve damage, water therapy, tens, heat, ice, herbal, exercise, diet change, discectomies, steriods, over the past five years I have had well over 175 very painful trigger point injections, facet, injections and SI joint injections that do not work, intensify their the pain, but in order to get the low dose inadequate pain medication I have to get them done. And now three days before Christmas this jack a$$ dr wants to cut my LIFESAVING PAIN MEDICATION OFF, leaving me in AGONY, A TORTUROUS HELL!!! He told me to see a shrink, I wanted to slap the smirk off his face!! FIVE YEARS I have been with him, followed all the rules, ruLES made by CORRUPT POLITICIANS AND THIER SIDEKICKS THE CDC, DEA, FDA AND PROP, (google ecowatch.com, scientists expose the corruption in the CDC, only a matter of time before The whistleblowers come forward about this fictious opiod epidemic) My dr told me the psychiatrist will teach me to think the pain away!!! ARE THESE DRS FOR REAL!?!? NOW AFTER FIVE YEARS HE HAS A PROBLEM WITH ME AND MY LIFESAVING PAIN MEDICATION!?!? I told him if he stops my meds he might as well admit me somewhere, I CANNOT EXIST IN THAT OVERBEARING PAIN AGAIN!!! He then looked at my back and says, "oh your back is a mess" NO SH*T a$$HOLE!! IMy back looks and feels like its freshly beaten with a baseball bat every day, I suffer from multiple debilitating incurable diseases like RSD, CRPS, sciatica, severe stenosis, fibro, osteoarthritis, DDD, three herniated discs, cervical disc degeneration, pancreatitis, migraines, two failed spinal fusions, adhesive arachnoiditis caused by the many epidurals i had to undergo. My incurable diseases will continue to worsen over time, my drs exact words to me a few years ago, and after trying all the alternative therapies MY BODY could take, following all the rules which BTW violate our RIGHTS AS AMERICAN CITIZENS, WE ARE TREATED LIKE CRIMINALS CHECKING IN WITH A PROBATION OFFICER EACH MONTH, WITH THEIR STUPID MONTHLY DRUG TESTS, MAKING SOMEBODY LOTS OF $$$$ . LEGITIMATE PAIN PTS ARE BEING NEGLECTED, ABUSED, MISTREATED, DEGRADED, DISCRIMINATED AGAINST, AND STIGMATIZED AS ADDICTS AND PILL SEEKING JUNKIES. DOCTORS ARE ABANDONING THEIR PAIN PTS LEFT AND RIGHT, LOOKING FOR ANY REASON WHAT SO EVER TO DISCHARGE THEM, ALL DRS ARE BEING TARGETED BY THE DEA WHO CONTINUE TO PRESCRIBE PAIN MEDICATION, LEGIT PTS HAVING THEIR MEDS LOWERED TO INEFFECTIVE DOSES OR ABRUPTLY CUT OFF IS BARBARIC, CRUEL, INHUMANE, TORTURE AND IT IS CRIMINAL!! DRS WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THE CHRONICALLY ILL. THE GOVERNMENT IS KILLING OFF THE CHRONICALLY ILL ONE BY ONE. THEY KNOW DAM WELL BY DENYING LIFESAVING PAIN MEDICATION TO THOSE WHO TRULY NEED IT WILL FORCE MANY PTS TO TURN TO THE STREETS FOR RELIEF GETTING GOD KNOWS WHAT, OR TURN TO HEROIN BECAUSE,THEY CANT AFFORD THE COST OF ONE PILL ON THE STREETS, OR THEY WILL TURN TO SUICIDE!!! This WITCHHUNT CREATED BY THE CDC, DEA, FDA, PROP AND THE CRIMINALS IN CONGRESS HAS KILLED MANY MANY LEGIT PAIN PTS. I DONT DOUBT FOR A SECOND ALL THE DEADLY PILLS AND ILLEGAL FENTANYL FLOODING OUR STREETS IS COMING FROM OUR CORRUPT GOVERNMENT AND THEIR SIDEKICKS. I AM TERRIFIED OF WHAT MY LIFE IS ABOUT TO BECOME.

I think it's interesting when the congressman had a child with cancer and found that pot helped her....he was all for legalisation then...before that he was a church going, judgemental fool. Yeah...it's different when it hits home or you walk in my shoes...isn't it???? Try it! The government created this problem when they decided they know what treatments you need more than your doctor. I was a very busy functioning person, involved in church, with my family, working full time and then in my 30s I had endometriosis and fibromyalgia. I had no idea why my back and other areas chronically hurt. Eventually, I was no longer able to work, missed weddings, funerals, Christmases and other family and church events. I do not choose to take pain medications because I am addicted, or want to have a high", but because without them I would be a shell of myself, unable to cope with the pain of a 2 HR car ride to visit family or attend an event. IT IS A TRAVESTY THAT THE DEA IS TARGETING PATIENTS IN PAIN RATHER THAN THE ACTUAL DRUG ABUSERS! THEY ARE RUINING MY LIFE! It almost seems like it would be less of a problem to find drugs on the streets if they continue to ruin the lives on patients who truly suffer from pain, I think the repercussions will be horrible. Life can be agonizing enough. We don't need the DEA overstepping their bounds and ruining the lives of those who are already suffering immensely from the pain of their disease!

I suffer from chronic pain and can NO find a doctor who will treat me. I was given TRAMADOL which causes me to fearful, paranoid and a dreadful sense of foreboding thoughts. I told my PCP yhat I have suicidal tendencies because I already am depressed (which I take an antidepressant). And then he prescribed it at my next visit. My entire holidays are ruined because of PAIN and now HORRIBLE THOUGHTS as a side effect. What happened to QUALITY OF LIFE??? The doctors do NOT care if their patients suffer - ultimately it comes down to the almighty dollar. I am 61 years old, live alone and I CANNOT TAKE MUCH MORE. What's the point? Suicide is my only option. The DEA needs to back the hell off and doctors need to stop being cowards and do what they were trained to do. Before the DEA stuck their nose in and labeling everyone who needs medicine, a drug addict. When I took narcotic pain relievers, not once did I abuse it, nor did NOT run out before my next script - I HAD to make sure it lasted until my next script because of horrible chronic pain. ALL MY PHARMACY ARE IN THE DATABASE, WHICH ALL DOCTORS HAVE ACCESS TO. I sit here right now and want to stick a knife through my carotid artery. My life has become a nightmare. Dr Carson (in Elyria, Ohio) dropped me AFTER PRESCRIBING PAIN MEDS FOR ALMOST FIVE YEARS , because he saw me as a liability, instead of his patient. He ABSOLUTELY KNEW THAT I DID NOT ABUSE MY MEDS. I had to stop cold turkey because I couldn't find a doctor who would treat me. I am dirt poor and all the stress of trying to make ends meet and the pain on top of that makes suicide look like the only option. Also, I know someone who suffered chronic pain, he started getting pain meds off the street, but the high cost made him want to give up, but instead he moved to another state and became a HERION ADDICT - I am disgusted with the doctors -they don't care!

I stand with the rest of these folks. We are normal law abiding citizens and follow the rule of law. I'm a veteran and also my grandfather, father, and two uncles. I live in great pain everyday and my doctor would rather harass me into volunteering to giving up my pain medication than increase it to what I need. I refused only to **** him off as he stated he could loose his license to practice. How lam for people that took an oath to heal no matter what! By the way, my family has more integrity than the DEA, with 54 years service between 5 of us.

For twenty years I have been taking the same does of a painkiller that allowed me to function normally and not be bedridden or too exhausted from pain to work. Now I am treated like a drug addict for the same low dose and it has been cut in half. The fatigue and disability are returning. Why are government guild lines so cruel to those of us in pain because of abusers and accidental overdoses? There is responsible pain management or the cruelty of letting people like me suffer needlessly. This new policy is costing my insurance company a monthly fee for a doctor visit . Stop putting doctors in fear of treating their patients.

I have had 2 spinal fusions, have bulging discs, and no cartilage left in my hip joints. I am in pain constantly. I cannot work, but low dose opiates allow me to function as in grocery shopping and caring for my teenage daughter. I have tried all other treatments, none have worked. Injections cause me to be unable to walk, Lyrica type meds have terrible side effects and are ineffective for pain, Now that they are discontinuing opioids as a treatment option, I will have to use marijuana. This is awful.

I know I was doing just fine on oxycodone for 14yrs. My Dr was retiring, so I had to get a new one. On my 1st visit, I was given the standard pee cup and after which I was given a pain contract to sign, which was no problem. The next month I go to my appt, but my Dr had her baby and my scripts were at the front desk for me. I wondered if they needed a urine test, they said not this month. The next month I go to my appt and when I get there, I'm told sorry, but we can't treat you anymore. Iasked why not? They told me that I didn't have any oxycodone in my system, but I tested positive for meth. I told them that was impossible and I wanted them to retest the 1st test. They didn't have it,because they didn't have room to store all of them. I tried to explain that to test for Oxycodone or Oxycontin, they're actually the same thing, they had to run a special test because it doesn't show up in a regular opiates test. They wouldn't listen at all. Luckily my regular Dr was still coming in 1 day a week. I made an appt, we've always had a good relationship, so when I explained my dilemma, he immediately sent her an email stating that I was correct in the fact she had to request a special Oxycontin level. I was in the process of having the RFNA, now that it's been completed, I hurt more than I ever have, plus I have also fallen several times. That never happened before, and my pain pills have been cut so low they don't even really help,,but I do know one thing. If we all got together and filed a class action lawsuit against the CDC, FDA, and whoever else is behind this, I'll bet it would settle out of court and we'd get our pain meds back. I know something needs to be done because I can't live in this kind of pain and I WILL NOT LET THEM DO ANY MORE INVASIVE PROCEDURES, NOR WILL I BE. FORCED INTO A NURSING HOME BECAUSE THE BIG WIGS WANT TO PLAY GOD!!!!! IT'S UNCONSTITUTIONAL, AND THEY'LL ONLY GET AWAY WITH IT AS LONG AS WE ALLOW IT. STAND UP FOR YOUR RIGHTS! !!!!

I was going to pick up my monthly meds and was told n the phone no more. I have been on these for back surgical pain, knee replacement, cervical degeneration, herpes, etc and they said the doctor had told me to go to a doctor that was a pain doctor. I didn't understand this was to be my last month. O I was waiting to receive a referral call from this doctor which never came. Now my doctor will not write, Friday evening. They told me I was taking too many that they wrote. I would have been happy to talk about tittering down but wasn't given that option. They said go to the hospital or in house detox which I can't, I have a family. They ignore my calls now....what do I do, I have been on these meds for a long time and am already sick with worry, of course pain and going into withdrawals which will be horrendous. I want to tell you what. when you help me and thousands of others with health issues then you might have some say in treatment. thing is, you aren't the doctor. you just assume things. life isn't how you see things. Ive take pain meds for some time and WHY! because I cant run out and get surgeries. Thank goodness back then it was something after days would heal.. first off, I cannot take anything over the counter. Ive tried it all.. and why? I have the worse kind of restless leg I had since my early twenties. as I aged it got worse. I did however found that tramadol would knock this in an instant. then you try making it a controlled substants as well. anything you see people taking you want to take it out. even hydrocone aggravates my legs to a degree, the tramadol stops it. I taken these for years with no problem. I gone without for days of the codone and take the tramadol at night if my legs starts in. this had gotten so ridiculous. this should be the users business..not letting those to kill themselves be my problem. if they kill others and themselves then its the fault of whose not checking their system at work, since this seems to be also job related. you want to rob people of having alittle quality of life when all else fails. even those who fought the war for you and came back in pieces. so you did a study to say how the pain meds not doing a person any good. now isn't that up to that person taking it, not you. I have taken hydrocodone the last few years waiting to get disability of my own or through my husband before I was 65. so I could get surgery on my back which I have a fractured vertebra and no ins. nor money to get it. but guess what.. I was told I don't qualify for the disability nor on my husbands.. see how it works,, you take from us but nothing in return, right! yeah right. well all I could do is wait til I was 65 which is dec,25th. I was so happy to finally get something but no matter what. we still suffer. what do you do when a person has open heart surgery? after the surgery you give them an asprin, lololol..awe to funny. what I hate is after I had surgery I would not be able to get pain medication I need because of you people. are you in such perfect health you never need it or do you actually get it and no one knows it. somethings up. I voted for Trump and I sure hope and pray he nips this crap right in the butt..whats scary is... this is just one example. whats next you want to take out. so far youre getting your way of killing those in bad health. I already thought this might be whats going on. if you don't mind us dying then why do you care if those dye of drug overdose. they aren't your family. so don't mind everyones business. go bake a cake or something. get a life and stay out of ours...

Im a person who followed the rules never asked for more even though I need more , but never double dipped , so for my honesty . The FDA/ DEA steps in and decides to play God on us by cutting opioids to those who need them . I have a spinal cord herniated discs and Psoriatic Arthritis and broke my foot and have Hammer-toe . Im dying of End Stage Renal disease , Im on dialysis 3 txs a week / 4 hours a day . This treatment not only aches my body but get bad cramps . Since I have the spinal problems , Ive been on various pain meds but oxycodone works good . My Doctor instead of informing us months ahead , they waited till the last month an are cutting me down a third of what Im taking in just 2 months and who knows after that . Being on dialysis it takes all my meds out of my body , I cant take Napxason for swelling or pain or drink alcohol . This total BS . They say too many people are dying from Ods and it leds to heroin another BS . I will sign a form saying its my body , if I die on them its on me but they just say you sound like a addict which is a way to switch the story around to discredit you . There is Vets coming home in chronic pain and it seems the Dea rather cover their behinds than take facts from real facts from patients who pay their wage .
