Allow spouses of legal, productive, Permanent Residents to stay in the country while the petition for a Green Card is approved

My husband is a legal Permanent Resident, has a good job, house, I receive a monthly retirement pension; both are seniors (above 65), no illness or need for expensive medical or adult care. He send a petition for my Green Card but I have to be out of the country until the visa is approved (up to two years). We do not represent a risk of using Government funds for support, are productive, we have not children with us. At your age, such long separation will be stressing, depressing, with a high emotional and physical cost.

Change the immigration laws to allow me and others in the same condition to stay in the country while the paperwork is completed and the Green Card is issued.
