Too many dual status technicians lose their jobs because they aren't able to stay in Army past 20 years. Then they can't collect their retirement until they turn 60.

This would finally give technicians the opportunity to have TRICARE insurance just like traditional guardsman. Premiums are much lower and the max out of pocket for the year is only $1,000 compared to the +10,000 plus that all the other plans charge.

I believe the act should not be repealed, it should be place into effect because of the provision it provides the individuals working in that system. Title 5 gives dual status technicians many benefits that he wouldn't have working under title 32. If you never worked in this system you would understand the freedom and liberties it would afford dual status employees. States are only concerned about readiness which won't be affected in ways they describe. Just like anything else they fear losing control. They don't take in mind the hard working dual status employee and his plight. They will see all will be fine once implemented.

I don't think it should be repealed and I don't believe that it will hurt readiness. It would be nice to be able to retire from the guard and keep your tech job or be whatever most on mday side to further your military career.

I have not been able to apply for several jobs because I happened to out rank someone on the M-Day side. Why should that matter for a Federal job when I am more qualified than the person I now work for?

This conversion would finally bring Title 32 techs on par with the rest of the federal workforce and assist with letting the "good ol' boy system" be a thing of the past.

I spent 12 years in the military, include almost 8 years in the Guard. I did 3 tours of duty for OIF. The worst people in the entire military are DoD civilian employees because they are above getting reprimanded and fired. You might as well contract the Russian mob if you put this plague on our National Guard.

The Guard is losing all of its personell who have the expertise and knowledge in the maintenance world, and the younger force is not picking up the slack period. As we throw the old timers out....quality programs go with them. Consider 20 years service....then title 5. Let us stick around to mentor the force as civilians....dont just consider us worthless because we are old and slow now

Yes, the Technician Act of 1968 needs to be looked at, but NO - having a Union influenced Defense Act set the future composition of the Technician work force is not the answer. A study needs to be done-similar to the "Future of the Army" study that was released earlier in 2016 to see what changes can be made to the Act.
