OPPOSE the Cybersecurity Act of 2009
Sign the Petition : 304 Letters and Emails Sent So Far
| I'm writing to ask you to please OPPOSE S. 773 and S. 778, which are part of the so-called "Cybersecurity Act of 2009." Both of these bills would grant the White House sweeping new powers to access private online data, regulate the cybersecurity industry and even shut down Internet traffic during a declared "cyber emergency." Giving the Department of Commerce oversight of the "critical" networks -- like banking records -- would give the government access to confidential, private information obtained without cause or warrant, which is a CLEAR violation of the U.S. Constitution's Fourth Amendment prohibition against unlawful search and seizure. Don't let this happen. Please, OPPOSE S. 773 and S. 778, which are part of the so-called "Cybersecurity Act of 2009." Thank you. | |

Recently in China and due to a technological glitch, the Chinese were allowed a short time with more internet access (which is controlled by the government), and You Tube had more hits from China than any other country. Do you want to lose this freedom too? This comment has been reported to the site manager. It will be reviewed and removed if inappropriate. Thank you!
