Puerto Rico has been in a recession longer than any State of the Union. Yes, the global economy and local government mismanagement has been partly responsible for their economic woes but Puerto Rico's ability to recover is directly impacted by the lack of tools, like Chapter 9 and federal programs parity, that other states enjoy.
Since 1898, Congress and The White House has given but have also taken away Puerto Rico's ability to develop a healthy economy. It is time to face your responsibility in this crisis.
The Puerto Rico economic crisis will be solved, but it will take a comprehensive effort that includes tools like Chapter 9 bankruptcy inclusion, tax incentives, and funding parity to stimulate businesses and strengthen the local economy.
