My son is living in squallor and has to work so much he doesn't have enough time left in his week to bond with his own children. They desperately want to see each other but daddy always has to work to be able to pay his own bill with what is left after his huge child support deductions. The children's mother doesnt work and is now pregnant with another mans baby who has hardly no income and is paying child support elsewhere, so my son is working tobsupport them all. I think those who make these decisions should be forced to live on only half of their income to see what it is like first hand.

I was an otr truck driver for a year getting job experience so I could eventually get a local job back home and be with my boys more. I'm back now and took a pay cut, but that doesn't matter to me. Its not about the money I just want to be with my boys more. They were taking 40% of what I made now its 50% and I don't have enough to cover my bills. They want 4 pay stub before I can even start the process to lower it, and that even IF it gets lowered. They say they r looking out for the children, and now I may have to go back over the road to make my $1000 a month child support payment and become nothing more than a faint memory to my sons. The whole system isn't right and needs to be changed. My ex has rarely worked but maybe a few months and I doubt she ever will as long as I'm paying. P.S. I didn't run out on my responsibilities, she got a new boyfriend and kicked me out.

It is time for something to get going I myself have recently been into the whole child support system my child support was not order the simple fact that my ex went and asked for it with no questions asked they just gave it to her I don't think that's right or we both knew what we were getting ourselves into when we were together I just don't seem that it's right that somebody can just go ask for it receive it without even thinking about the other persons financial trouble that arise from something like this I do support for the children that do have the deadbeat fathers and they should be held accountable but as for people who are just interested in the money such as my ex with multiple children from different men should not be granted such ease to receive support only because there is still some bitterness left behind from the relationship as for my case I was in my child's life up until she decided to mess around with all the cords things now they tell me when and where to pick them up and have become a weekend father only because of the court system and the child support system we need reform NOW not tomorrow not next year not within the next 10 years but now.

My husband pays 1200 a month for his two sons on $16.50 an hour. We have a baby at home and I am basically a single parent. He is at work all the time and I take care of the baby and financially support the baby by myself. He only brings home 600-700 after child support. He was unemployed for 3 months due to cuts at the bank he worked at. They rehired him but for less pay and a downgrade in position. He wouldn't of taken that job if he wasn't afraid he was going to be in more trouble. 3 months of unemployment accured 3600 in back support. His support is so high because her parents got her a lawyer from day one. The court just walked all over my husband and miscalculated his support obligation on then first court date. She also sends them to private catholic school which raises his support. Then once he lost his job and was rehired he went to court to get it lowered. As the master was doing the recalculation (lower income and now a new dependenttat home) he says to him "just so you know your support may be raised" so out of fear my husband withdrew his request. And the judge raises his support by $200 until the back support is paid. Then we go to consult a lawyer (mind you this is our second lawyer) the first lawyer charged $3600 and never even represented him in court. She charged him for every email, every phone call... and then did absolutely nothing but write up a custody agreement. So we go to meet a new lawyer I pay $2000 for him and we are trying to appeal but they refused our appeal because he withdrew his original child support reduction. Child support isn't for the children its for the state. My son is suffering... and the state doesnr care about him so his big brothers can go to private school. Everytime we have the boys their mom is going out drinking, shopping, out to dinner. Hopefully we can get a new court date. I can't believe its even legal to enslave my husband in this way. My husband is a good man and an amazing father. When the boys leave our house they cry for him. I love them I kiss their booboos, hug them, play with them, and treat them like they are mine. We plan on fighting for 50/50 custody when my husband gets a better schedule at work, I finish nursing school, and hopefully our new lawyer can sort this child support situation. We were forced to move in with my parents. We are nearly evicted eveey other week because my father is so mad that my husband can't help much with my son. We are both educated hard working people. My husband made a bad choice and married the wrong woman first. Is it not allowed to move on and be happy? Its a violation of his rights, my rights, and espically our youngest son who suffers.

Child support paternity testing should be first. I have been paying for 13 years and they won't let me have a paternity test on my 3 children because I signed the papers at hospital when they were born. As they grew older, resemblance has raised my suspicion, why can't I have paternity testing to settle this issue? Unfair.

I've been taking care of my 1st son (7 yrs old ) since the day he was born, I also have a 4 yr old that I didn't know about until he was 2 (in which i found out the only reason she brought my son to my attention is because women no longer receive government assistance for a child over the age of 2 without a man to admit paternity.smh) but I'm not worried about the child support for him because it's the least i can do because I'll probably feel bad about the first 2 yrs of his life for forever (she was married and for the first 2 yrs her husband thought my son was his own. He still loves my son but it's just a weird situation for us. I tried to make it work with my 1st son's mother for a few years but couldn't. We had a nasty break up and she got married to some sugar daddy that her, her sisters and her friends seem to have no problem sharing (he just got her best friend pregnant fyi). Up until now I've seen my boy whenever i wanted but upon her finding out that im having a baby with my soon to be wife she orders me to be placed on child support. I go clothes/food and toy shopping for both of my boys twice a month cause it's all i can afford. I have no problem with supporting my children i actually live for it but it'll put an immense strain on my Debt To Income and the when me and my wife (who i love so much and has stood by my side relentlessly through all of my "baby mama drama") try to do something (house, car, loans, etc) we'll always have her blocking our goals just because she can. She gets $3,500 for him in tax return money every year and hasn't bought him clothes in 3 yrs. She won't make the better choice and let him live with me for fear of looking like a bad mother so she keeps him with the junkies (her husband and best friends) and the prostitutes(her sisters). My whole family loves my children although they have never met my 4 yr old because his mother will only let me see him if I go over to her place. I don't even know what I'm trying to say, I guess im just venting. All i want is the right to keep my children out of harms way without the fear of a kidnapping charge.

I have always done the best I can, I have no support system and have been on my own since 16. I feel as if the system doesn't care for the struggles that single and struggling men like myself go through. I cant even afford to save up for car to better myself or go back to school to create a better future for my child or my self. And every time I am in court the father are looked at as dead beats. When you have mothers who live off of child support and spend it in ways that would make anyone sick. things need to change.

It's long overdue, while some mothers remarry and have more children create dept for her and her new family the custodials support increases to cover her financials, while the child suffers and tells the father he/she contemplates suicide because of unhappiness. No Child should want to die! No child Left behind we say? But a child could be left to inflict harm to themselves because they miss the custodials... Reform Now!!!

The system is made out to benefit the mothers and not the child. Some women see child support as $$$ not aid in supporting the child's expenses.

This is not a justice system period, first of all how can you be unemployed and seeking child support, you are not supporting yourself, so how can you ask for anything but the big picture is the 7 percent the government is getting for this extortion they are doing which is barbaric and bullying to the highest extents, it is uncivilized and unjust to take anyone money, that works a 9 to 5 job period, you didn't work for it so who gives you the right to make decision and false judgements of how one should spend it.

Illinois law it very terrible on fathers who are working and tryng to pay support. My grandson lost jobs a couple of times and had to turn in his drivers license in Nove 2013. It is horrible. He pays every month, and has had custody of his son since January of this year when the child's mother was arrested for child endangerment. Since January, the State of Illinois has added about $1800 interest to his back support of $3000. It is now nearing $5000 even though they take out of every paycheck and he is paying on the back support. It is a human indecency not to allow someone to have a license to drive to and from work. Whoever thought of this, it was just not right. I am certain that many of the single mothers will not even name the fathers of their children, as they do not want them to be penalized in that way. Good fathers are left out in the cold with no help. He cannot afford a lawyer.

Both income and expenses of both parties should be taken into consideration. On top of that the recipient of the support payments should have to account for every dollar spent with receipts for support as well as daycare. Daycare providers should be accessible by both parties and approved by both parties. Let's get this changed!

Why don't the calculators give the option for joint legal and physical custody? If one parent gets a raise to an equal pay of the other parent the cost of living standard should not change, either.
